Renter or homeowner, young professional or senior, starting a family or living alone – you deserve to feel at home in our neighborhood, be connected to our community, and have your voice heard by the ANC.
As commissioner, I will work to ensure that our ANC supports our community members by connecting neighbors to resources and engaging in mutual aid efforts.
Safety is a critical concern that many residents have raised. We must continually invest in community-based public safety solutions that address the root causes of crime and violence.
As commissioner, I will support investments in violence interruption, youth programs, and other proven efforts to prevent crime and increase safety.
I will oppose over-policing that disproportionately harms our Black and Brown neighbors.
Affordable Housing & Homelessness
Housing in DC is expensive, and many residents have already been pushed out of our neighborhood due to rising costs and gentrification. 1B08 is also home to one of DC’s new family homeless shelters, which is in the final stages of being built on Clifton and 14th. As neighbors, we have an opportunity to provide a welcoming and supportive community for people who are experiencing homelessness and trying to get back on their feet.
• As commissioner, I will support efforts to expand rent control laws and robust affordable unit requirements in new developments built in our ward.
• I will work to balance the needs of all community members both housed and unhoused, using my government affairs and social work background to navigate the challenges and opportunities that will arise as the family shelter becomes operational.
More issues will be added here soon.
